Hey, so I’m joining my company’s team, and doing the Rexall OneWalk to conquer cancer. Specifically, the 15km City Walk.

My personal goal is to raise $800. If you can help me reach this goal, you’d be helping a loved one somewhere in your life. Statistics in Ontario show that 1 in 2 people will experience cancer in their lives. And while in 1950 only 20% patients survived cancer free 5+ years after treatment, now, thanks to research and broader education worldwide, that number has risen to 60%. Would it not be amazing to see that number rise to 100% in our lifetimes. We get there by research.

The Princess Margaret Hospital, in Toronto, is more than just a cancer treatment centre. It’s also a world class research centre and that shares its successes and failures to a wider global community in cancer research and treatment.

So, I’m walking the OneWalk, but to do that, I need some support. Any and every penny helps, if you can.

I just have to RANT!

I recently saw a post on a site I love, a favorite author of some of the best fanfiction I've ever had the pleasure to read, and it sent me into orbit.  Not at the author, not at all, but at the entitlement and expectation of people who read this author's work, and then think they have the right to a) bitch about the content, b) insert their expectations, or c) be a general troll.

I'm always brought back to a favorite expression of my grandmother's, and it's something I'm sure EVERYONE has once heard.  "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all".   Now, this isn't true when it's concerning government, or services you pay for, but when it's something free, creative and you had no part in the genesis of?  Well, if it offends you or you don't like it then just close the page, and go away.  Write your own shit for self-amusement, exactly the way you want it.  Your spewed garbage isn't wanted, needed, or providing any sort of guidance or motivation.

Want to know why No Competition hasn't been updated?  It's the demanding expectation riddled on Fanfiction.net that stops me from posting.  No sooner do I polish the chapters, then I get some email that just sets my hair on fire.   Honestly, I should just close my FFnet account.

Fanfiction is creative writing.  It's free to read.  It's free to write.  No one profits (well, expect some ego stroking), but overall, it's not a service you pay for.  Even if you donate to support a site, you're NOT paying for the fanfic.  You're paying for access.

So, to all those readers out there that think they have the right to tell an author they don't like something, or they should write it differently -- no.  You don't like it, go away, write your own drivel.

/ Rant officially over.

Happy 4th

There is nothing quite like coming home, only to realize one of your tires is going flat. Especially when it's raining and going to continue raining for the next four days. Why couldn't this happen yesterday? Especially since yesterday was sunny and warm.

Clearly the Fourth wasn't with me today.

I wonder if it's worth my time going through and posting my old BtVS fics. The fanfic I had up on slayerfanfic.com. I'd have to strip out the HTML, but that wouldn't be hard, just tedious. On the other hand, I'd like to think my writing has gotten more sophisticated since then, and maybe that older material might be too cringeworthy.

It's far from over, but this is the last chapter drafted, and written on vacation. I have three more in outlines waiting for population, but I need to get back to No Competition badly.

So, I've been wandering from No Competition a wee bit. (*cough*) On a recent vacation I watched Teen Wolf, and old NCIS episodes. And thus, while not a Teen Wolf fic, I do offer up a NCIS one.

Hormones and vacations are terrible and possibly tragic mixtures.

Synopsis: At a time when his life was falling apart around him, something big came into Tony DiNozzo's life and helped him refocus his personal life, his career, and his future. The trick was, how not to lose this too.

Well, with all sorts of hurdles, repairs, events and just plain blahness... chapter nine is now in draft. By that I mean, I just took out 3000 words (that I wasn't happy with), and I'm now working on the spot I just killed.

However, for anyone's reading pleasure, here's a taste of chapter 9.
