Here We Go Again
Apr. 1st, 2003 10:20 amFor years I had one email account. Only one. I was the Queen of Predictability. If you wanted to find me, you only had to email amclerie@globalserve.net.
However, as time passed, the ratio of personal email to spam became something like 1:100. So, in a fit of rage, I cancelled that address and got a new one. And I have given it out ONLY to my friends and family.
I don't use it on mailing lists, I don't register it on forms, and I never admit to it on warranty forms, reply cards, whatever. I always use anyamclerie@yahoo.ca for that stuff, because it's not the address where I receive emails from my parents, from my brother, from my friends. It's the "rompus room" of email addresses and I can ditch it whenever I choose. Besides, thus far their SPAMGUARD has been quite effective.
Today. My new Secret Address received it's first piece of SPAM.
*AAARGH* I hate crawlers. I hate how we are all victims to these solicitations whether we want them or not. If I want commercials, I turn on TV and understand that the price for programming is the commercials. If I don't want commercials, I PAY to rent a movie or I PAY to go to the movies. So, since I PAY for my internet access and my email I don't see why my email address should be therefore inundated with garbage I don't ask for or want.
And yes, I realize I'm ranting. But, SPAM really PISSES ME OFF!
