Well, I got home safely (and hopefully that soothes Claris who has left numerous messages on my cellphone). Arrived back to my home sweet home around 11pm, checked my voicemail (and found 5 messages in some foreign language from the same person. Apparently they don't get the message that says I'm not whoever they're looking for!), did a load of laundry and went to bed.
Crawled OUT of said bed at 6:30, got showered, dressed and hied my ass out to my parents place. Visitation was today from 2 - 4, and then 7 - 9. I was apparently needed to arrive early to clean the house, as the reception for the funeral (tomorrow) will be at my parent's home.
It's good to know that I'm loved so much...
Gran had a lot of visitors. Very touching. The funeral home did a great job, too. She looked... well, better than she has over the past five years. Sleeping peacefully on satin sheets. I'm not keen on open-casket displays, but like I said, she looked great. Very natural.
Cousins showed up in jeans and scruffy clothes. Except for Nicole's husband Garrett who was in a full suit. I don't get that pairing, but nuff said there.
Drew (my brother) has a cold from hell. Has something to do with lack of sleep and imbalanced meals, but he's been running a low fever for a few days. We drugged him up today, propped him in a corner and let him cat nap. Poor kid. He says his head feels like it's packed in solid wool.
What else... hrm. Nuthin much. Life goes on.
Warm fuzzy thanks to EVERYONE who posted their sympathies in my last post. You ALL rock, and I appreciate so very much your kindness. The family is doing well, and with the exception of a few teary eyes, we're adjusting to this change very smoothly. Dad, Grandad and my Uncle are taking this the hardest, obviously, but I feel confident they will heal in their souls soon.
