Jan 1 Aftermath
Jan. 2nd, 2005 03:24 pmSo, in the tradition of my family, today the Christmas decorations are coming down. The tree? Stripped of all trimming. The room decorations for kitchen? Gone. Room decorations for living room? Down and on the table for packing. The hallway trims, yet to be addressed but soon to be removed.
All that's really left to do is pack everything into their approprate tote-boxes, and take down the outdoor garland and lights. HOWEVER, since it's raining a cold miserable rain, the garland outdoors and lights will be remaining until tomorrow.
Mom gets cranky doing this. Me? I'm feeling accomplished because I'm addressing it all ONE BOX AT A TIME. So, it's not overwhelming. Also? I've inherited a number of 'decorations' from my grandfather and my mother -- and I've kept what I want, and gotten rid of what I didn't want without any shame. This is something Mom is unable to do.
And, before 6pm tonight, I expect the interior to be well into "January" for festive trimming and past the "December" madness -- in a clean non-cluttered sort of way.
Woo!
Also? Dinner last night (prime rib) was terrific. I know Martha could not have done better! (Okay, granted, since she's in jail her resources are limited, and that helped TREMENDOUSLY!)
